Ireland to Welcome American Tourists from July 19

According to a report from Reuters, Ireland will be open to American tourists once again from next month as soon as the country implements the European Union’s COVID-19 certificate.

Following the lead of other European countries like Croatia, Greece, and Italy, Ireland has become the latest to open its borders in the nick of summer. It relaxed border restrictions that barred US travelers during the Surge of COVID.  This is set to take place from the 19th of July.

  • Proof of Vaccination

The relaxation will see travelers with proof of vaccination outside the European Union, including the United States, enter the country. Unvaccinated travelers will also be required to provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test and submit to a second test after a self-quarantine.

At the moment, Americans allowed entrance into Ireland must have proof of negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours upon arrival and must undergo a 14 days quarantine. Children between the ages of 7 and 18 who have not been vaccinated will also provide a negative COVID-19 test result before coming into the country.

  • Relaxed Border Restrictions

The plan to relax border restrictions is part of the country’s ongoing measures in lifting lockdown. Outdoor dining, pubs, and restaurants will open back up, but hotels will only welcome guests on Wednesdays. The resumption of indoor dining isn’t until the 5th of July.

In an address aired on TV according to the wire service, Prime Minister Micheal Martin had said that the end of the pandemic and its aftermath is near if they continued to be mindful of one another and make the right choices in that regard.

Going by reports from Reuters, which tracks the global COVID-19 vaccine rollout, Ireland has vaccinated 35.1% of its residents. It is hurrying towards vaccinating the rest to ease lockdown entirely and return the country to full functionality.

In the wake of the COVID-19 dissemination worldwide, the European Union as a body has announced its plans to receive vaccinated foreigners into its countries this summer. Several countries like Spain and France have also jumped on this plan, will welcome foreign tourists starting this month.

In the coming months, we believe that more travel restrictions would be lifted in countries outside of the European Union as we battle the aftermath of the pandemic.
