Grenada is a beautiful country in the West Indies. It is known as the spice land because of its wide range of spices and herbs, ranging from cilantro, cinnamon, vanilla, etc.
Grenada charms you with its lush rainforests, lofty mountains that offer scenic views, and beautiful beaches. Here are some exciting places to check out during your visit to Grenada.
- Grand Etang National Park & Forest Reserve
Grand Etang National park hosts a wide variety of plants and animals. Tourists regularly visit here because of its beautiful scenery and hike trails.
The park’s main attraction is Grand Etang Lake, which was formed out of a natural crater. The hiking trails vary in difficulty ranging from the 30-minute long, self-guided Morne LaBaye Trail to the harder Concord Falls Trail, which passes some cascades with swimming areas.
The hiking trails offer lovely views of the forests, and you can spot many types of birds, plants, and rainforest trees.
- Spice tasting tours
In the same way, you attend wine tastings; you can do the same in Grenada, except its spices this time. The Belmont Estate, which is about an hour’s drive from the capital, St. George, offers a variety of tours on its cocoa plantation, taking you deeper into the world of chocolates. You will also get to explore their organic farm and their tropical fruits and spices. You can also stop by the Dougaldston Spice Estate, where the local farm workers show you how spices are grown and processed.
- Annandale Falls
Annandale Falls is a beautiful 10-meter long waterfall located in the mountains north of St. George. Along the trail leading up to the fall, you can spot beautiful tropical flowers and shrubbery.
You can watch fearless divers dive into the water from the top and or even dive in yourself and swim at the bottom of the cascades. Another 10-minute walk from the waterfall is the more peaceful Royal Mount Caramel Falls on the island’s east coast.
